The Wadden Sea National Park is a unique place, home to the largest uninterrupted system of tidal flats and sandbanks in the world.
During low tide, it is possible to walk several kilometres across areas that, only a few hours earlier, were covered by water.
It is a crucial habitat for seals and harbour porpoises, and an essential area for more than 10 million migratory birds.
This project was created as the final assignment for the Illustrating Biodiversity course at Academia Illustraciencia.
The decision to create an informational panel about this national park is deeply personal, as I have visited the area on several occasions and experienced the extraordinary beauty of its landscape. Walking across the tidal flats while listening to the sounds of birds, wind, and mud has been a truly inspiring experience.
I chose to illustrate some of the most representative species found in the park. After conducting extensive research, I created sketches of each species and developed the final composition of the informational panel.
