The long-snouted seahorse (Hippocampus guttulatus) is one of the main species found in the Mar Menor, the largest saltwater lagoon in Europe.

In recent years, its populations have declined significantly due to pollution caused by intensive agriculture, water discharges, and other environmental pressures.

These factors, together with the beauty of this species, inspired me to create this illustration, which shows the male seahorse, a detailed view of its head, and a dorsal view.
